Class overview

Up - Town Charleston: Shorty Snowden and his dancers were swinging hard in movies like "After Seben" when the Lindy Hop was really just being developed and was being referred to as the Break Away. In this class we will be breaking down the style of dancing portrayed in the clip "After Seben" and fusing it with our own. This should be a lot of fun so come along for the ride.

Classy Lindy Hop patterns: We will be focusing on some of the patterns that are not just timeless but continue to excite us today. This class will be designed to challenge both the leaders and the follows to work on their technique out of necessity because the moves just won't work without solid fundamentals.

Introductory Balboa: Never done Balboa before? Or, kinda know that basic step where you're smushed together? Then this class if for you! We'll be working on basic footwork and technique that will enable you to dance Balboa all night long!

Combinations, for the not so faint of heart (Intermediate): We're going to be taking our Bal-Swing to the next level with some combinations that will shed a little light on all the possibilities we have in this amazing dance. You will need to be very comfortable with the basics of Pure Bal and Bal-Swing.

Deconstructing the Throw-Out: In this class we'll be teaching the fundamental Bal-Swing step; the Throw-Out. If you have taken the Introductory class and are hungry for more, or if you just want to brush up on your Throw-Out technique, this class will be perfect for you!

Intermediate Pure Balboa: Add depth, texture, and musicality to your Pure Balboa with some great footwork variations and syncopation fundamentals.

Jam Ham: What to do in the jam circle or battle style competitions - how to be entertaining, exciting and musical (without major aerials)

Making the Dance Feel Good: How to be nice to your partner and really connect - some pivots around the floor, maybe some drags/lunges, dips, creating that magical connection where you can really let go and feel the music and feel each other.

Tandem Charleston: Learn partner Charleston variations that are extremely leadable and impressive on the dance floor. Transition from lindy or east coast swing into Tandem Charleston patterns that are super fun!

ECS/Lindy Fusion: Transition from 6-count east coast swing to 8-count Lindy using easy transitions and leadable moves. This is a great class for beginning and intermediate dancers who want to be able to move smoothly between styles.

Int. EC Swing: This class will focus on 6-count swing with triple steps and high paced footwork for dancers who want to dance at a faster pace without the difficulty of 8-count lindy. Social dancing will be made flashier when out on the town, without having to be a lindy pro.

Easy Retro Hair: Get the tips on how to create an easy and quick retro-style hair-do to top off your swing look. Learn how to pin, poof, accessorize… and the all-important unicorn of power.
